| Technology Spring Cleaning |

Just like our homes, data centers and technology infrastructure need some cleaning up every once and a while; making time now can pay dividends down the line.
First, consider whether any employees have left your organization recently. If the answer is yes then be sure to delete their access to the network. And don’t forget to change the phone system to redirect their calls.
You would also be well advised to review the status of security-related software, including Internet connections.
Now to backups and the ongoing need to conduct data restore tests. Be sure to verify new folders and storage areas and back up everything. If you’re still using tapes or off-site storage then seriously consider making a change due to vulnerability.
Finally, check out all hardware (desktops, laptops, routers, servers, etc.) and be sure the firmware and/or operating system is current.
