In response to IT trends, IBM has deployed more than 430 newly modernized applications and 200 new industry tools for the System i platform (AS/400) that can help customers with everything from Web applications to IP telephony.

One such application is the 3Com VCXT suite of IP telephony solutions on IBM's "all-in-one" System i business computing solution.

It enables small-to-mid-sized (SMB) companies to integrate IP telephony capabilities with the System i. To simplify the convergence, the IP telephony suite can run in a single Linux on POWER partition on the System i.

This means companies will be able to run business and telephony applications simultaneously, managed by the System i's well-known system management tools.

The 3Com VCXT suite is designed to help our customers take advantage of IP telephony features and cost savings versus traditional telephony systems, while delivering the same level of reliability that you expect from business computing on System i.
