| NSI: Crime Scene Investigation |

When it comes to catching bad guys, the concept of data protection takes on a whole new meaning; there's no margin for error. None.
Take the case of the Waterbury (CT) Police Department, which investigates thousands of crimes each year. Concerned about protecting critical case files that were being stored on a variety of hard drives on their network, the department recently purchased a Compellent SAN from NSI.
"It has been a huge help to us," said Victor Aviles, Systems Administrator for the Waterbury PD. "We've been able to store a massive amount of data."
We're talking about huge evidence files, such as crime scene photos and undercover audio recordings that must be readily available to detectives and forensics specialists.
"A couple hundred megabytes of space is no longer adequate when each photo is five megabytes," Aviles said. "The Compellant SAN is very powerful and flexible."
Critical police data is now centralized and with an extremely high level of availability. In fact, the Waterbury police have doubled the available space since purchasing the SAN, not only to meet immediate demand, but to accommodate future anticipated growth.
