Streamlining, Increasing Security and Saving Money NSI Delivers for Connecticut Town |

The town of Vernon, Connecticut had ambitious goals. It wanted a single network for all town employees that would allow for easier control of town data, security and network management.
By utilizing VMware virtualization software, NSI created a redundant environment for Vernon that dramatically improves end-user performance and serves as the foundation for the town's disaster recovery plan.
NSI also virtualized the police department to allow either site to failover to the other in the event of a major disaster in a data center.

Here are the details of NSI's work for the Town of Vernon:
Town:
- Established VPN connections to all remote town departments and put all town users on single network
- Created centralized terminal and file servers for remote users allowing town to move to inexpensive thin clients and centralizing client management
- Consolidated all local and remote servers into VMware virtual servers (roughly 20 physical server consolidated to 2)
Police:
- Created fully redundant virtual server environment (VMware) offering a more stable environment for public safety
