New Internet Worm Infections Skyrocket into the Millions |
| |
The first major server service vulnerability since Sasser is moving across the Internet. The virus, called Conficker (AKA Downadup or Kido) targets the services.exe process (server service) by exploiting the vulnerability associated with the MS08-067 patch.
The worm has multiple infection vectors including travelling via USB drives and it auto-updates itself via downloads from random domains making it almost impossible to stop.
