The benefit of NSI's Tapeless backup system became evident recently at one Town Hall in Fairfield County,
Connecticut (not identified for security reasons).
The Town Hall has two primary servers. One a NSI Tapeless Backup server; the other a massive
VMware server that holds 10 “virtual” servers. The NSI Tapeless server was under NSI’s TotalCare
while the VMware device was not. (NSI is VMware Professional Certified)
Unknown to the town, the “C Drive” on the tapeless server was reaching its limit and
NSI received an alert. NSI was able to quickly remote to the server, find the folder/file
that was inappropriately growing, and move it to another area off the server. All of this
was done behind the scenes so the user experience was unaffected.
The following week, one of the VMware processors crashed. The entire network was down for a
substantial time. Parts needed to be ordered and shipped, and
technicians had to be sent out to make the fix.
If this device had also been under the NSI TotalCare plan an alert would have been promptly
sent to NSI to examine the server, and possibly resolve the issue without any downtime or
additional cost to the Town.
Since that experience, the Town Hall’s VMware server has been put under the management of NSI TotalCare. |
