Astronaut Inspires NSI

So much of the technology we use today has been spawned by America’s space program that it was only fitting to have a NASA astronaut attend this year’s NSI 2008 Kick-off event.

Connecticut native Daniel Burbank, a Captain in the US Coast Guard who has made two Space Shuttle flights, was on hand to remind everyone to keep reaching for the stars.

NSI Vice President Bill Thompson, who like Burbank is a graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, arranged for the visit. "He gave us all an important lesson in perseverance, preparation and teamwork," Thompson said. "Here is a guy who at first struggled at the Academy and then at NASA yet remained steadfast in his objective. He offered all of us a fresh perspective on what it takes to overcome obstacles and to reach for success."

NSI Achievement awards were also presented at the event. Our New York State team of Nancy Lamberson and Melanie Bittner received Top Producer honors for the second consecutive year, while Vinnie Graziano and Bob Walker were honored as the Connecticut Top Producers.

Technicians Scott Belheumer, Brandon Ayelsworth and Scott Larkin all received Customer Service Awards.
